Board Report
June 6, 2024
There is one last board meeting this year on June 20. Several items that were discussion on the 6th will be back for action on the 20th including the budget, SFID #3 and New Pacific Charter request for independent study.

1:19 Celebration of Spring Sports
1:47 Public Comment - the majority of the comment was about a student news article about the Palestinian situation. Speakers discussed concerns including censorship, freedom of speech, critical thinking v. public offense. Regardless of anyone’s positions, we should all agree that doxing the student author is completely unacceptable and schools, the district as well as community members need to support and protect students.
2:20 Jeannette’s FCEA report touched on district focus on coaching and collaboration and stated why FCEA’s position is that Pacific Charter’s request to add independent study should not be approved by the board.

This is the last in person board meeting for both student board members. We thank them for their service and wish Matt Mellijor well at UC San Diego and Van Merrill a great summer before he returns for his senior year at CHS and a 2nd term on the board.
