Bargaining Report: November 5, 2025

This month’s meeting focused on cleaning up contract language and compensation regarding Psych and SLP leads, updates to the pilot evaluation process as well as TK staffing, half day subs and PRISM training for secondary.

Job Descriptions for the School Psychologist Lead and Speech Language Pathologist Lead were completed.  These roles, comparable to secondary division leads, and are scheduled for Board review on November 6th.  Each position will have an 8% salary stipend and add two days to their respective calendars.   We successfully AGREED to the Preschool Experience & TK Salary Placement MOU, which confirms up to nine years of experience credit; this will be permanently moved into the CBA by June 2026.

MOU:  General Education Intern Mentor.  We’ve previously completed an MOU for Special Education Intern Mentors but in last year and this year we’ve begun to see general education interns too.  The language and expectations are analogous to the prior MOU without the additional Special Education specific content.  This MOU will place the stipend at Appendix D-4 Tier 5.

Evaluation Update and Feedback: A survey on the 10/10/10 evaluation process is coming next week to piloting teachers and administrators to gather feedback on the observation, reflection and TalentEd documentation process.   Meanwhile, certificated specialists are in the process of creating rubrics for their unique positions that include the "Developing" and "Applying" levels, with "Amplifying" being optional.

Addressing Operational Roadblocks:

  • TK Staffing: We are addressing TK 1:10 ratio coverage gaps caused by inadequate 1.5 aide allocations in AM/PM classes on Thursdays, minimum days, and PE prep requirements. A subcommittee has been formed and charged with developing a TK AM/PM schedule with staffing needs in compliance with TK state guidelines clearly outlined for master scheduling and staffing needs.

  • Half-Day Subs: The issue of incorrect half-day contractual midpoints in Frontline for secondary schools has been confirmed. The system will be corrected by January. Staff will receive communication on December 4th clarifying the correct release times.  New times will be in Frontline in January.

  • Mandatory Training: A mandatory PRISM training (state-required for educators working with grades 7-12) will be introduced on January 8th, with time set aside on January 15th for completion. This one-hour training will supplant the PowerWorks unit for secondary staff.
