School Board Meeting
May 21, 2026
Here are the links to the agenda and the YouTube video of the meeting. Times noted are time stamps from the video. All of the powerpoints can be found in the agenda.
[1:12] VIa. Celebrating Student Athlete Accomplishments - Spring Sports. 36% of secondary students participate in athletics. Last year FHS increased by 7%, Vista increased by 8% and CHS saw the greatest increase of 12%. 40 of our graduates received NCAA scholarships. Congratulations to all of our athletes, families, and coaches as well as all of those behind the scenes that support our student athletes. Don’t miss the mini-graduation ceremony for a Vista student who missed because he was competing at the CIF State Championships where he ran the 400 in 47.77 seconds and missed his school’s graduation.
VIIIi. FCEA MOUs approved - these will be posted soon to our webpage
[2:10] X. Jeannette’s FCEA report addressed two Job Descriptions approved earlier, the Site SpEd Liaison position is only paid for through supplemental funds following SPSA and site council processes. She also addressed a public comment from the last board meeting that suggested our teachers make more than UTLA which is untrue.
[2:17] XI. Screen Time Task Force Recommendations. This group of teachers, parents, and district staff have been working quickly to deeply explore the issues and nuanced potential responses. See the ppt for their proposals as well as potential follow up or concerns to be addressed. Thank you to our members who participated in this last minute, intense work. Take time to review the ppt and listen to the conversation. This work will continue and you should expect long term changes. Note the emphasis Dr. Channa Pitt put on meaningful collaboration with teachers and awareness she showed of unintended consequences. This is an area that when input is sought out, our members need to be ready to provide thoughtful feedback.
[3:33] XIIa. Tentative 26-27 budget. The board will vote at their last meeting in two weeks.
[4:23] XIIb&c. LCAP for the district and FCCC presented. The board will vote at their last meeting in two weeks.
Last meeting: June 18, 2026
