How Can I Help You?

Hello! I’m Christina Cook. I’ve worked in FCUSD since 1998 - first at Peter J. Shields, next at Sandra J. Gallardo, then Mangini Ranch, and now at the district office, My current position as C&I Specialist in SEL & Equity has me working on lots of great projects that aim to support students and teachers all over the district. Some of the projects I’m working on right now are:

  • Calming Kits for students (coming to classrooms and support staff soon!)

  • Second Step SEL implementation and supports

  • Panorama survey, interventions, check-ins and supports

  • Equity Leader meetings

  • Ruby Bridges Walk on 11/14 at many sites all over the district

  • Supporting teachers with post-election ideas and strategies

  • LGBTQ+ Task Force meetings

  • Working with entire C&I Team to facilitate PD days, new curriculum and supports for teachers TK-12

  • Heritage month presentations (on FCUSD website) and posters (sent to each site to post in office) Link here - scroll down to the right for all heritage month presentations you can use in your classroom.

I am a PROUD union member and  joined FCEA and CTA my very first year in the district! I didn’t realize at that time how important it is to be part of a strong and supportive union. Over the years, FCEA has provided me with tremendous opportunities for support, learning, leadership and growth. I am currently serving on the FCEA Exec Board as the Human Rights Representative. I help to bring a voice and vote to our board on all things equity, inclusion and human rights. I am also a CTA State Council Representative for our region (SAC-1) and attend State Council meetings in Los Angeles with over 500 reps 4 times per year. I serve on the Language Acquisition Committee. We review policy, assembly and senate bills relating to how our students in California are educated and supported when English is not their first language. I am a Human Rights Cadre Trainer for CTA as well, and present training to unions all over Region 2 in topics related to Transformative Social Emotional Learning. There are so many opportunities within FCEA, CTA and NEA to advocate and support yourself and others in ways that are important to you, personally! If you are interested in getting more involved in any of these areas, or want more information about how FCEA feeds into our Capital Service Center and CTA, please reach out to me! I would love to help you become more active with our amazing union! Please email me at: soychristina21@gmail.com
