Here are the links to the agenda and the YouTube video of the meeting.

Below is the time stamp from the video if you want to check things out.

  • 4:48  Kaden, 5th grade student from Cordova Meadows and President of the Black Student Union, spoke as part of the district recognition month of February - Black History Month.  Kudos to Kaden who showed more poise than most adults speaking in front of the board.

  • 13:20  Two items on agenda consent list were temporarily pulled for commentary before being approved.

    • Item d:  Contract with Digital Scoreboards and Scoreboard Media.  J. Laret wanted to highlight the plan spearheaded by P. Maroon that replaces scoreboards with updated media and software at all three high schools.  In approx. 7 years the revenue from ad sales should (re)pay the cost of updating.  Supplemental curriculum for use in our video production classes will also be provided that will give students first hand experience with the same software used by colleges and pro teams.

    • Item i:  YK Chalamcherla requested that next year the school safety plan be brought as a discussion item to bring it to the public’s attention.  Later in the meeting the BP on Bullying was also flagged as an item the board wanted to have a presentation on to improve their understanding and share more detail with the public.

  • 1:05  President’s Speech - Jeannette Sansenbach was unavailable but left a speech to be read into the record.

  • 1:11  Adoption of Resolution:  Environmental Impact.  Vista’s Environmental Impact Club brought this to the board during public comments on November 7th.  Working with SAB and facilitated by P. Maroon the resolution linked on the board agenda was reached to highlight the district’s focus on advocating and acting on climate action.  We’ve also seen water bottles eliminated at board meetings and including recycling plans as school building updates are started this summer.  Kudos to the students to bring this to everyone’s attention and for the collaborative effort made to reach this result.  Another example of student voices being heard and student leadership being welcomed.

  • 1:26  On the agenda XI b - j will be links to the 9 board policies brought forward per the Federal Program Monitor (FPM) audit or due to updating legal cases or rulings.  Topics:  Board member Public Statements/Electronic Communications, Atooryn, Political Processes, Contracts, Financial Reports and Accountability, Bullying, Suicie Prevention, and Married/Pregnant/Parenting Students.

  • 2:13  High School Graduation Schedule Update:  while there is interest in long term planning to address issues due to growth there is nothing immediately on the agenda.

  • 2:28  LCAP Mid-year Monitoring Report

Next Board Meeting:  March 6
