Wegsteen, presented Cordova High School: Secondary School Spotlight, Celebrating Student Life [PPT]. PPT includes highlights about CHS academics, The International Baccalaureate (IB) program and the Lancer of the Month award. CHS athletics, Spirit Committee, and Vapa are also featured. Illustrating the culture-social environment are pictures from the Back to School Rally, Club Rush, Freshmen orientation facilitated by Link Crew, as well as Premiere Day.
[1:19, VII] New Introductions - Welcome to new FCUSD team members.
Craig Rouse - next Executive Director of Facilities Development. [Matt Washburn is retiring after many years serving this district] Craig started working in the trades and moved into leadership roles in and outside of school districts most recently as Senior Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations at Rocklin USD.
David Byrd - Executive Director of Human Resources. Dave started his teaching career at CHS (social studies) and continued to work in education in a variety of roles including Principalships (Monterey Trail HS and Roseville HS), most recently as Director of School Improvement Support at Elk Grove USD. Has lived in Folsom for 30 years and has 3 daughters who graduated from FHS.
[1:25, VIIIb] Presentation: Dr. Iyuanna Pease presented Deeply Rooted: Celebrating FCUSD Legacy Employees [PPT]. Illustrates our commitment to system wide connectedness. As of Sept. 2nd, there are 115 employees who attended and/or graduated from an FCUSD school including 27 schools and 2 board members collectively representing 900 years of service. To honor these employees, they will receive a “Deeply Rooted” recognition pin and have their stories celebrated in upcoming publications and events. First to receive the pins: Board members Jennifer Laret and Kara Lofthouse and Dr. Jim Huber.
[1:48, X] Speech by FCEA President Jeannette Sansenbach: Jeannette welcomed Craig Rouse and Dave Byrd. Recognized our evaluation pilot roll out focused on a coaching model that features administrators and staff working together. At our last bargaining meeting FCEA and FCUSD arrived at a TA currently being voted at. Jeannette thanked the parent who spoke during public comments about the reduction in teachers at Innovations academy and how it affected her 11th grade student as well as IA staff and recognized that Walnutwood experienced similar cuts - it has been a tough start of the school year for the students, families and staff at those schools.
[2:01, VI & XIIa] Public Hearing and then approval of Folsom Cordova Community Charter (FCCC) LCAP for 2025-26 [PPT]
[2:05, XIIb] Presentation by Sean Martin on FCUSD 2024-25 Unaudited Actuals Financial Report. This report is based on the actual expenditures last year as opposed to anticipated budgeted amounts. [PPT]
[2:32, XIIIa] Annual Board Report on the status of FCUSD charter schools: FCCC and New Pacific [2 PPTs]
[2:55, XIIIb] SFID #3 Facility Update Part 2 [PPT]. The powerpoint shares designs for a new elementary school (modified from Alder Creek plans) and a combination MS/HS design. It also shares timelines and funding information including discussion of a potential district wide bond election in 2026.
[3:00, XIV] Superintendent’s report: This year the Kinney and CHS Culinary CTE academies will alternate catering dinner for the school board. Big shout out to Kinney’s team for tonight’s dinner.
