Special Board Meeting: School Enrollment & Capacities Study Session (0:00)
During this meeting, there is no public comments or presentation from the public. It is strictly a session between district staff and board members.
Mark Washburn took the board through this slideshow and showed how the student population is growing in all schools. Additionally, what needs the district will have.
It was also mentioned about the school boundaries and how that will change over time.
David Reed pointed that he felt RC should be getting something out the Bond that was passed about fourteen years ago.
It was also stated that no new school would be built without a new District-wide Bond, but there is about 80 million left, so there could be discussion as to where that money will be spent.
YK brought up the issue that RC residents should have a dedicated percentage of seats at the new schools (Mangini, Alder Creek, or any other school built in Folsom) since they have been paying on those bonds the longest and no new school have been built in RC.
There will be an Open Public forum March 27th for people to discuss the Capacity Issue with the Board.
There was a vote for all interdistrict transfers to be stopped for Folsom High.
The vote passed.
The Board requested a policy for the district regarding transfers and optimum capacity.
Staff is suppose to bring it back at the next Regular Board Meeting, March 20.
